We will be playing:
A SCRAMBLE format. Each player will tee off, the group then selects a single ball to play from; each places a ball within 1 club length of the chosen tee shot. Each team member hits their next shot from the chosen spot – this procedure is followed on every shot for the remainder of the hole, including putts. Shots from the rough must be played from the rough, sand from the sand, etc… Record your team score on the official scorecard beginning with your starting hole. Ties will be broken at Post with a game of chance.
WITH
A SHOTGUN start.

VFW Post 101 was chartered on April 20, 1920 under Commander James W. Gowdy. The post was named after Lt. Marion L. Willis, who was killed in France during WWI, while assigned to the 356th Infantry Division. He was initially a native of Kansas, though his family moved to Colorado Springs sometime before the war, and he is currently buried in Evergreen Cemetery. His mother led the drive to establish the post on the condition that the post be named after her son, and that a memorial service be held at his graveside each year. Once established, she became a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary. We still hold this service every Memorial Day, in honor of our fallen comrade.
On August 25, 1986, V.F.W. Post 9201 of Old Colorado City merged with Post 101.
Post 101 is the owner and caretaker of the Grand Army of the Republic area of Evergreen Cemetery.
To this day, Post 101 carries on the tradition of connecting the Veterans of Colorado Springs, past and present, providing a place where they can socialize, and by providing both essential services and advocacy to Veterans in need and their families.

Longest Drive (Men’s and Women’s):
The object is to be the man to hit the longest drive during the course of play. In order to win the contest, a golfer’s shot must be in the fairway when it comes to rest. A marker is provided by the golf course to mark the distance of the longest drive and identify the winner. When a player beats the marker, the player will place a marker at his/her spot.
Closest to the Pin (Men’s and Women’s):
The object is to be the man or woman that hits the ball closest to the hole for the day. A marker will be provided by the golf course for golfers to identify the closest shot to the hole. When a player beats the marker, the player will place a marker at his spot.
